Inspirational Entrepreneur: Anna Johnson-Hill

Speaker and wellness coach Anna Johnson-Hill is on a mission to help young women take action to live the dream of becoming their best ever. Through her Beginner’s Guide to Wellness eCourse, wellness coaching and public speaking appearances, she is making her mark in the world of holistic health. Her interview inspires us to be consistent with our own content marketing, and to view our failures as an opportunity for growth.

What inspired you to become a holistic entrepreneur?

It’s more of a who, than a what. A few years ago, I was a typical university student hung up on getting drunk with my friends. One morning I awoke with one of those hangovers where you vouch to never drink again. I went to Google for help and typed in ‘how to be well’. Amazingly, the late Jess Ainscough, Wellness Warrior, came to the rescue. I was blown away and the trajectory of my life shifted that morning.

Tell us about your business.

My mission is to help young women take action to live the dream of becoming their best ever!

How would you describe your current business model?

‘Beginner’s Guide to Wellness’ eCourse, 1:1 wellness coaching virtually and in-person, speaking gigs and affiliate promotions.

Is there a certain strategy you’ve found to be the most effective for growing your audience?

Posting regularly and consistently across social media to build a relationship and trust with my audience.

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced in running your business?

My limiting beliefs.

How have you overcome those challenges?

I spend as much time, effort and money on personal development as I do on professional development.

How do you find new clients?

By using content marketing to spread my message over social networks. I use Hootsuite to schedule the majority of posts over Facebook and use Latergramme for Instagram. Both are free!

What have you found to be most effective in securing new clients to sign up for your services?

Connecting to them on a deeper level by being authentic and sharing my story.

What were some of the first mistakes you made that you would tell a new holistic entrepreneur to avoid?

Not setting goals. It is much easier to ask people to join your email list when you know you have to get 10 more people to reach your goal. The sting of rejection hurts less when you shift the focus to numbers rather than you personally.

What has been the best piece of advice you’ve received as an entrepreneur?

Failures are opportunities for growth.

What is your morning routine?

Wake up at 7.30am, drink water, journal, craft my day, make my bed, eat oats with berries.

What is your favorite indulgence?

Nicecream! 2 frozen bananas, 1 tbsp of cacao, ½ cup of coconut water whizzed up in my Vitamix.

Most exotic thing you’ve ever eaten?

Himalayan salt from my Indian salt lamp to ensure if it was actually made from salt.

Most memorable place you’ve ever visited?

Amherst, Massachusetts where I lived for 6 months.

Last book you read?

Mastering Your Mean Girl, Melissa Ambrosini. Must-read for any young woman!

If you could only have one kind of food for the rest of your life, it would be…

Zucchini

What is your go-to breakfast?

Oats with berries. ½ cup of oats cooked on the stove with some water, topped with washed berries and a splash of cold water stirred in. We don’t want that porridge too hot!

What do you love most about being an entrepreneur?

Freedom to work from my laptop. It’s a blessing and a curse because there is the temptation to just work from my bedroom all day. But there is also the freedom to jump in the car and work from anywhere.
